Melvin Russell

Melvin Russell, 82, of Graham, died Monday, August 5, 2019, at his home.

A native of Alamance County, Mr. Russell was the husband of Priscilla Costner Russell and the son of the late Charles E. Russell, Sr. and the late Naomi Bivens Russell.

Mr. Russell was a veteran of the US Army and retired from Western-Electric and AT&T as a systems analyst and associate manager after 33 years.

Mr. Russell attended Bethel Baptist Church and was a member of the Graham Masonic Lodge, the Graham Lions Club, the Shriners and the American Legion.

In addition to his wife, Priscilla, of the home, Mr. Russell is survived by two sons, Charles Alexander Russell and his wife, Tina, of Graham and Robert Joseph Russell, and his girlfriend, Tara, of Graham; six grandchildren; one brother, Sam Russell and his wife, Marie; four sisters, Agatha R. Johnson and her husband, Clem, Anne R. Lail, Margaret R. Hinshaw and Sheila R. Hughes.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles R. Russell, Jr., Earl Russell and Banks Russell.

The family will receive friends Thursday, August 8, 2019, from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at Bethel Baptist Church in Graham. Other times they will be at the residence.

The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM Thursday in the church. Officiating will be the Rev. David Jackson. Burial will be in Graham Memorial Park.
