Mrs Mary Jane Michael

Mary Glosson Michael of Chapel Hill passed away peacefully in her sleep Thursday morning, July the 20th, after a lengthy illness. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Roy Dell Michael, her parents Carl and Maude Glosson, and her sister Dorothy ‘Tabby’ Ferguson.  

Mary Jane, as many called her, was born August 13th 1928 in Orange County, NC and went to White Cross Elementary and Chapel Hill High School before working 40 years at Burlington Industries Pioneer plant.

She was a member of Concord Methodist Church in Eli Whitney. Mary had a bright disposition and an infectious smile and was usually able to see humor in most things. She loved quilting, traveling with Roy, and birdwatching. She loved her garden and had a special place for animals in her heart; be it dogs, cats, donkeys and miniature goats. Her grand children have many memories of feeding and caring for the beloved pets.

She is survived by three children: Estelle (Roger) Harrelson of Snow Camp, Nida Webster Dunn (Brian) of San Diego and Rachel Jamison (Bill) of Chapel Hill.

Her grandchildren include: Chris (Sarah) Moren and Robert Moren of Texas, Katie Wegner (Garrett) of Connecticut,  Eric Harrelson (Melissa) of Chapel Hill, Jacob Harrelson (Melissa) of Snow Camp, Philip Jamison (Lisa) of Carrboro, Allison Jamison of Wilmington, and Mary Jamison of Chapel Hill.

There are nine great grandchildren:  Ian and Nicholas Becht, Mallory and Aubrey Harrelson, Brianna and Nelson Harrelson, Skylar and Bear Brooks Moren, and Jane Wegner.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, July 25th at 1:00PM at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, 1707 White Cross Rd, Chapel Hill. When not at the church, the family will receive guests at 6501 Gold Mine Loop in Chapel Hill.
