January 30, 1924 ~ September 11, 2017 (age 93) 93 Years Old

Mary Elizabeth Cheek Love, 93, passed from this earthly life on Monday, September 11, 2017. Mary was born on January 30, 1924, the youngest child, to Martha Virginia and Claude Marvin Cheek. She was the wife of the late Walter Love, Jr., “Junie”.

She was a graduate of Eli Whitney High School and Burlington Business College. She retired from Sellars Manufacturing in Saxapahaw after many years of service. She was a member of Center United Methodist Church where she was active in the Sunday school, choir and United Methodist Women. She served on the original Board of Directors for Snow Camp Historical Drama for many years and was a past member of the Eli Whitney Ruritan Club. Up until the time her eyesight began to fail, she was an avid reader and writer and was also a gifted artist.

Mary is survived by her sons, Walter Stephen Love and wife, Betty, of Graham, James Phillip Love of Snow Camp and Robert Neil Love of Chapel Hill; grandchildren, Stephanie Bolick and husband Larry of Graham, Jeff Love and wife, Joan, of Graham and John Love of Graham; and great-grandson, Dustin Love, of Graham. Also left to cherish her memory are numerous nieces and nephews, whom she loved very much.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by siblings Albert, Elwood, Wade, Kathleen, Claudia, Margaret and Frances.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, September 14, at 2 p.m. at Center United Methodist Church, Snow Camp by the Reverend Garrett Rea. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall. Other times they will be at the home of Walter Stephen Love.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks for all the calls, cards and prayers during this time. We also wish to give a special thank you to Hospice for the kind care our loved one received during her stay, and also the kindness extended to the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Center United Methodist Church, 9204 Snow Camp Road, Snow Camp, NC 27349 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
