Mary Ann Hopkins

Mary Ann Hopkins went to be with Jesus on Thursday August 30th around 2PM. She joins her husband, William Dwight Hopkins Jr., parents, Clifford and Dot Larrow, Uncle Franklin Murphy, grandparents and many other dear friends. She is survived by her daughters, Audra Hopkins Spears and husband, John, and Whitney Hopkins Sutton and husband, Geoff. She has three precious grandchildren, Hannah Spears, Ellie Grace and Tristan Liam Sutton. She left her legacy and friendship to many, many precious ones. 

Mary Ann graduated Walter Williams High School and Elon College in 1969. She worked for many years with Mr. Ridge, Vernon Law Firm and Peoples Memorial Christian Church. Mary Ann was a proud parent and grandparent and spent a great amount of time with her family. She served her community as a volunteer with Meals on Wheels and children’s programs at Lambs Chapel and Peoples Memorial Christian Church.

She fought the good fight against Stage 4 Breast Cancer for 5 years. She will celebrate her 69th birthday in Heaven on September 9th. 

The family will receive friends at the residence from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 1, 2018.

The funeral service will be conducted at the Mausoleum Chapel at Alamance Memorial Park on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Alison Folwell. A Celebration of Life reception will follow at the residence.

Education was very important to Mary Ann and her husband Dwight. A fund has been set up to help support their grandchildren’s college fund. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to “Mary Ann Hopkins Memorial College Fund”, 3101 South Church Street, Burlington, NC 27215.
