Sue Miller Barnett, 93, of Dayton, TN, formerly of Burlington, died Thursday, May 9, 2019 at The Hospice of Chattanooga Care Center in Chattanooga, TN.
A native of Johnson City, TN, Mrs. Barnett was the wife of the late Rev. Harry Franklin Barnett and the daughter of the late John Hunter Miller and the late Vaughtie Proffitt Miller.
A minister’s wife, Mrs. Barnett taught Sunday School, sang in choirs, played piano, and greatly contributed to the ministry of all the churches in which Rev. Barnett served. Mrs. Barnett also taught school during various periods of her life.
Mrs. Barnett is survived by one daughter, Ellen Barnett, of Acapulco, Mexico; two sons, Dr. Stephen F. Barnett and his wife, Jane, of Dayton, TN, J. Timothy Barnett and his wife, Dona, of Fairview, NC; eight grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Barnett was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia M. Hunt, her brother, John Hunter Miller, Jr., and her grandson, Zachary Barnett.
The family will receive friends Monday, May 13, 2019, from 12:30 until 1:45 PM at Northside Presbyterian Church, where she was a member.
A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in the church, officiated by the Rev. James Mitchell. Burial will be in Cross Roads Presbyterian Church in Mebane.
