Martin Thomas Rose (1949-2021)
Martin Thomas Rose, 72, of Whitsett, passed away Thursday, June 3, 2021, in Burlington, surrounded by his family.
Born March 3, 1949, in Roanoke, VA, Martin was the son of Richard Ralph and Bille Jeayne Martin Rose. He graduated from Windsor High School in Windsor, VA, in 1968. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and served until 1972. He then attended Elon College and graduated from the Technical College of Alamance with an Associate degree in business. Martin worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Elon until his retirement in 2004, then became a parts delivery driver for NAPA Auto Parts in Burlington until 2020.
Martin is survived by his wife of 47 years, Susan Elizabeth Perry Rose, of the home; son Brian and wife Amy Lynn Rose of Greensboro; daughter Amy Rose Murray and husband Jon of Thomasville; sister Cindy Glover of Raleigh, brother Mark Rose and wife Dolly of Boone; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A private, family graveside service is planned for Magnolia Cemetery in Elon.
