Ms. Elvie Holmes Martindale, 86, of Haw River, died on Monday, September 3, 2018 at her residence.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Rudolph “Pete” Martindale, Jr. and the daughter of Glover William Holmes and Margaret Pearl Watkins Holmes, both deceased. After working for many years at Cone Mills, she opened up her own florist, Martindale Flowers, in Mebane. She was involved in various church activities and loved doing artwork, making dolls, shopping, and making floral arrangements.
Survivors include her two daughters, Janis and her husband Rick and Lori and her husband Tom; four grandchildren, Leslie, Jennifer, Christopher, and Emily; three great grandchildren, Justin, Everette, and Emmalyn; her sister, Louise H. Bradley of Mebane; and her niece, Jo Ellen Bradley, of Mebane.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 7, 2018 at the Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington with Rev. Don Pegg officiating. Burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 6 at Rich and Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington and at other times will be at the residence.
