Mrs Darlene Farrington DelGado

Mrs. Darlene Farrington DelGado, 83, of Graham, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, February 12, 2019.

A native of Guilford County, NC, she was wife of the late Joseph DelGado, and daughter of the late James Tillman Farrington and Stella Inez Thompson Farrington. Mrs. DelGado was a retired Registered Nurse and attended Swepsonville Baptist Church.

Surviving are four daughters, Kim D. Sain (Terry) of Holly Springs, NC, Dee Dee Thompson (Madison) of Pittsboro, Michelle D. Horn (Shannon) of Mebane and Sandy DelGado of Graham; nine grandchildren, Megan, Kelsey, Mary, Alexis, Kathryn, Anna, Ryan, Will and Seth; four great-grandchildren, Tucker, Mason, Audrey and Willow; a brother, Tillman Farrington of Madison, a sister-in-law, Renee Farrington of Stokesdale and many beloved nieces and cousins with whom she shared a special bond. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Deoma Waynick and Kay Farrington.

Darlene’s ministry was caring for her patients and she dedicated her life to nursing. Once retired, Darlene always said she was meant to raise her grandbabies. Although she didn’t pass down many homemade recipes, she did pass down her professional shopping skills and many of her local favorite stores may now suffer in their sales. Darlene was a generous, tender and loving mother and grandmother who taught her loved ones the importance of loving and trusting God for all things in life.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM, Saturday, February 16, at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham with Rev. Holly Lux-Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow at Graham Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1:45 – 2:45 prior to the service, and other times at the residence.

The family would especially like to thank the dedicated caregivers who helped to care for Darlene, including DeeDee, Megan, Lori, DaVana, Bonnie and Holly. You all made life so much easier for the rest of the family knowing that she was in good hands. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
