Margaret Ann Turner Fambrough

 

Margaret Ann Turner Fambrough passed away on April 13, 2019, in Burlington.

 

She was born November 8, 1927 in Americus, Georgia, and studied piano from an early age. Her family moved to Miami, Florida when she was in high school. She received a Bachelor of Music in 1948 from the University of Miami, where she joined the American Guild of Organists, and was a member of Chi Omega social sorority and the national music honor society, Sigma Alpha Iota. In 1951, she married Don Fambrough and moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where she worked as a musician for Circus Under the Stars. They later moved to Burlington, North Carolina, where Margaret Ann taught thousands of piano students over the years and served as the organist for First Reformed United Church of Christ for almost 60 years. She also worked as an organist for Rich & Thompson Funeral Home, and accompanist for the Williams High School concert choir for many years.

 

Margaret Ann is survived by two daughters, Janice Fipps (Steven), Gail Fiddyment, and one son, Don Fambrough, Jr., five grandchildren, Stephanie Fipps Davis (Jody), Tamara Fipps Selzer (Jacob), Grant Fiddyment (Hadas Peles), Glenna Fiddyment, and Garrett Fiddyment, and nine great-grandchildren, Maddison Selzer, Naomi Selzer Allen (Josh), Sarenna Selzer, Alyssa Selzer, and Christian Selzer, and Hayley Davis, Katelyn Davis, Taylor Davis, and Justin Davis. Margaret Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Czarina Fleming Turner and Douglas Forrest Turner, and her sister and brother-in-law, Ruth Turner Bendinger and Richard Bendinger.

 

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 from 5:00-7:00, at Rich & Thompson Funeral Home in Burlington.  A celebration of Margaret Ann’s life will be held Thursday, April 18, 2019 at 2:00, at First Reformed United Church of Christ, and the family will welcome friends afterward in the Fellowship Hall. A private burial will be held prior to the service on Thursday.
