Margaret Virginia Lineberry Boswell

Margaret Virginia Lineberry Boswell, age 98, passed away peacefully in her home on Woodland Avenue in Burlington on May 24. Born on July 14, 1919, she was one of nine children of Mary Winters and William Lemuel Lineberry of Mebane, NC. They preceded her in death, as did her husband of thirty-nine years, Edward Leroy "Sonny" Boswell. She is survived by her four children: Susie Boswell Winters (David Sengel) of Boone, Peggy Boswell (Larry Vellani) of Mebane, Lee Boswell (Joan Boswell) of Nags Head, and Mary Evans (David Evans) of Burlington. She was a loving grandmother to six grandchildren: Anna Creadick (Kevin Dunn), Mae Creadick (Nick Rogowski), Ben Vellani, Ginny Vellani (George Sullivan), Ellery Austin (Matt Austin), and Mary Margaret Evans; and great-grandmother to Barrow and Strummer Dunn and Kaz Rogowski.

Margaret was treasured not only by her immediate family, but also by her many nieces and nephews, relations, neighbors, and friends. She helped them remain connected to their shared past over holiday meals, Sunday lunches, and visits on the back porch of her home. For many, she was the last link to a generation gone by and her loss will be deeply felt.

The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to her longtime caregiver and special friend, Libby Carroll, for her love and devotion, not only to Margaret, but also to the entire family. The family would also like to thank "Red" Freeland and Judy Warren for their wonderful care, along with Dr. Javed Masoud and the staff—Ashley, Melecia, and Lindsey—at Glen Raven Medical Care Center for their many years of service. Margaret’s final years were brightened by the compassionate individuals who worked with her through LifePath and Hospice Services of Alamance County and the family is endlessly thankful for their loving palliative assistance.

Following a private burial service with family at Stony Creek Presbyterian Church at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 29, a memorial service will be held in the Williams Chapel of First Presbyterian Church in Burlington at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends in the John Knox Room immediately following the service. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
