Lucy Culberson

Mrs. Lucy Culberson, 96, of Burlington passed away at her residence on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at 1:30 a.m.

A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Raymond Floyd Culberson and the daughter of Everett Phillippie and Clady Blanche Shoffner Phillippie, both deceased. She retired from Sweaters, U.S.A. and was a member of Low’s Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two sons, Ray Culberson and wife Peggy of Louisanna and Roger Culberson and wife Brenda of Burlington; five daughters, Linda Faye Swangin of Burlington, Jan K. Edwards of Burlington, Peggy Lee Cobb of Burlington, Sylvia Jean Martin and husband Bill of Greensboro (Colfax), and Cynthia Dawn Culberson of Burlington; one sister, Alice Marley of Burlington; two half-sisters, Marie Forbes and husband Garland of Burlington and Brenda Allen of Mooresville; one brother, Glenn Phillippie and wife Allie Mae of Burlington; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Fannie Marley and five brothers, Willard Phillippie, Burn Phillippie, June Phillippie, Leonard Phillippie and Bobby Phillippie.

The funeral service will be conducted at Low’s Lutheran Church on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. John Mark Beam with the family receiving friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
