Lisa Toyama Woodard, 53, of Cary, NC passed away after a long courageous battle with cancer on November 21, 2017.

Mrs. Woodard was born October 7, 1964 in Los Angeles, CA to the late Philip Mitsunobu Toyama and Masako Suzuki Toyama. She graduated from Page High School in Greensboro, earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Duke University and her Master’s Degree from North Carolina Central University. She was the Media Coordinator for Pleasant Grove Elementary and volunteered for Colonial Baptist Church. She was a previous employee of Laurel Park Elementary, Cary Christian School, First Citizens Bank and Wells Fargo.

Survivors include her husband, Dr. Blair Woodard; son, Philip at N. C. State University; daughter, Christine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; sister, Marie Toyama (Tom McEvoy) and their children, Matthew of Raleigh and Emily Leatham (Garrett) of Durham, NC; and many loving relatives in Japan.

On her husband’s side, survivors include a brother-in-law, Troy Woodard Jr. (Barbara) and their children, Wil and Caitlin Woodard, Adam and David Swink of Burlington; brother-in-law, Dr. Reid Woodard (Jill) and their children, Meagan Hundt (Douglas) of New York City, NY, Robbie (Janice), Ivey, Helen Ann, and Kayleigh of Graham; brother-in-law, Todd Woodard (Lissa) and their children, Katharine, Todd Jr., Caroline, Sarah, and Rachel of Myrtle Beach, SC; and sister-in-law, Gena Davis (Bobby) and their children, Cole, and Parker of Knoxville, TN.

Lisa will be remembered for her love of Christ, family, children, librarianship, and lifelong learning.

The funeral service will be conducted at Graham Presbyterian Church on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. by Dr. Steve Braswell with the family receiving friends from 10:45 until 11:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Graham Memorial Park.

Mrs. Woodard loved her children and valued their education. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Woodard Education Fund.
