Leigha Blair Martinelli, 24, of Burlington passed away in North Charleston, SC on Saturday, January 12, 2019.
A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of Steve Martinelli and Denise Abernathy Martinelli.
After surviving Neuroblastoma in her youth, she was a spokesperson and chair for Relay for Life, an inspirational speaker at Duke’s Children’s Hospital telethon, guest speaker at Christian Youth National Conference (over 6000 people attended), graduated from Williams High School where she was a member of golf team, chorus and drama club, member of Young Life, graduating from Charleston Southern University with a Minor in Christian Leadership and Major in Communications Studies, member of the Charleston Southern Youth Group and Drama Club, member of the Tri Delta Sorority (Elon University), hostess at Outback Steakhouse, and testimonial speaker at numerous church, schools and events.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her dog, Mylo; two brothers, Dustin & Tanner Martinelli; paternal grandparents, John & Anne Martinelli; maternal grandmother, Anita Abernathy Allen; aunts & uncles, Brian & Suzanne Allen, John & Debbie Smith, Michael & Kathy Martinelli, Cherie Martinelli, Lisa Martinelli, Dianne Martinelli & Johnny Martinelli; and many numerous beloved cousins.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Brantley Rogers Abernathy.
The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at St. Marks Church in Burlington. The committal service will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
Leigha was able to touch so many lives by her testimony, she lived her life with no prejudice and cherished each and every person she ever met. Her biggest blessings in this life were her family, her friends and her husky Mylo.
