Lee Edward Cates

Lee “PaPa” Edward Cates, 88, of Graham, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Peak Resources.

A native of Charleston County, SC, he was the son of the late Frank G. Cates and the late Annie Jacks Cates. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, retired from Copeland Fabrics after 37 years of employment and was of the Apostolic Faith.

Lee is survived by one daughter, Lynne Cates-Hamlett and her husband Rick Hamlett of Graham and one daughter-in-law, Karen Cates of Greensboro.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, F. David Cates; one sister, Edna Lenora Cates; six brothers, Bill, Ben, Bob, Richard, Grant and Everette.

His graveside service will be held at the Chestnut Ridge United Methodist Church Cemetery (3505 Chestnut Ridge Church Road, Efland, NC 27243) at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 4, 2017 with the Elder Catherine Golden officiating.
