Laura T. Mitchell

Mrs. Laura T. Mitchell, 94, of Burlington passed away at the Presbyterian Home of Hawfields on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 9:00 p.m.

A native of Caswell County, she was the wife of the late Lindley Freeman “Jack” Mitchell and the daughter of Arthur S. Thaxton, Sr. and Mamie Featherstone Thaxton, both deceased. Mrs. Mitchell worked at J. Spencer Love for 28 years prior to being a beautician. She was a member of Carolina Christian Church and the Women’s Fellowship. She was also a TOPS Field Staff member for 28 years.

Survivors include two grandchildren, Nicole Leonard of Raleigh and Justin Miller of Salt Lake City, UT and son-in-law, Thomas Miller of Burlington. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Miller; sister, Louise T. Kirby; and three brothers, Thomas P. Thaxton, Henry S. Thaxton and Arthur S. Thaxton, Jr.

A memorial service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. by Dr. Dace Lewis and Rev. Mark Mitchell with the family receiving friends following the service.
