June Sellers Strader Harris

June 17, 1925 ~ November 21, 2017 (age 92) 92 Years Old

June Sellers Strader Harris died on November 21 at her home.  She was born in Burlington, North Carolina on June 17, 1925.  Her parents, who predeceased her were William Watson Sellers and Hazel Crowson Sellers.  She was also predeceased by a brother, William Ernest Sellers, her first husband, Jerry Dalton Strader, Jr., her second husband, William Bruce Harris, (Colonel, ret. USA).  She is also predeceased by her daughter, Elizabeth Strader McAllister.

A lifelong resident of Burlington, Mrs. Harris graduated from Burlington High School and attended the College of William and Mary, where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority.

She was a lifelong member of the First Congregational Christian Church, now the First Christian United Church of Christ.  She served as a Sunday school teacher, a deacon, and was active in many other activities of the Church.

Mrs. Harris was a member of the Alamance County Arts Association, the Alamance County Historical Association, the Heritage Book Club, and she was a charter member of the Alamance Country Club.

She is survived by her daughters, Carol Strader Cochran, and Laura Strader Riley and her husband, Charles William Riley, III, a stepson, William Bruce Harris, Jr. and his wife Eve, and son in law, Michael McAllister, a sister-in-law, Mary Leighton Sellers, and many nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

A private burial will be held at Pine Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Alamance Country Club from 5:00 to 6:30 pm on Saturday, November 25, 2017.

The family would like to remember with love and appreciation, dear friends, Mazie Nettles and Judy Warren.
