Judith Lee Owen (Judy) Allred passed away Saturday, 5 May 2018 at her home. Stalwart, dependable, habitual as clockwork, and organized, Judy was much more than this. Judy never knew a stranger. She was a dedicated church member at Faith United Methodist Church, serving in many capacities. Born the month after Elvis, she wasn’t a rock star, but people "couldn't help falling in love" with her.
Judy was a native of Burlington, the only child of Homer Lee Owen and Edna Lois Perry Owen, born on 3 Feb 1935. Her mother died when she was 16, and Judy lived the next year with "Uncle Russ" Owen in Columbus, Ohio. She returned to graduate from high school in Burlington.
Judy married at age 19 and was a loyal wife for 30 years as her husband was transferred from Burlington to El Paso, Shreveport, Atlanta, and Columbia. Judy worked as a stenographer and executive secretary for Western Electric, Bell Laboratories, and Boeing Aircraft and other organizations.
Judy touched many lives as a loyal friend and caring family member. The love and forgiveness through the Grace of God were evident in her daily life and caring actions. She was an inspiration.
Judy is survived by a daughter and son "by heart", as Judy said, Tammy Ingle and Mike Wilder, both of Burlington, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 from 2:00 pm to 2:45 pm in the Mausoleum at Alamance Memorial Park in Burlington prior to the service at 3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Faith United Methodist Church, 1732 W. Davis St., Burlington, NC 27215 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
