J.L. “Joe” Sizemore III, of Snow Camp, passed away peacefully and went to rest with our Heavenly Father on the morning of June 29, 2018.
A native of Graham, NC, he was the son of Dorothy Shepherd Sizemore and J.L. “Bud” Sizemore, Jr.
Joe was an Eagle Scout and attended Appalachian State University. He was vice president and general manager of J.L. Sizemore & Sons Lumber Company where he worked since age 13. In a decision he prepared for his whole life, Joe modernized the family owned company from the ground up in 1993 and was named Timber Processing Magazine’s “Man of the Year” in 1994. Later, he served on advisory boards including BB&T and Oak Ridge Military Academy.
He will be remembered for his endless love and devotion to his family, unmatched business acumen, clever wit, artful cooking style, and unwavering integrity.
Joe is survived by his daughter Leslie Sizemore of Burlington; son J.L. “Joseph” Sizemore IV of Snow Camp; sisters Donna Sizemore of Greensboro and Debbie Sizemore of Mebane; grandsons J.L. “Joey” Sizemore V, Nicholas, and Noah; and granddaughter Arianna.
The family will receive friends at Rich and Thompson Funeral Service in Graham on Monday, July 2, 2018 from 11 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. Burial will follow at Mount Hermon United Methodist Cemetery.
