Obituary
Jonas Emanuel “Mutt” James, 87, of Gibsonville passed away at 10:12 a.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2018 surrounded by his family at the Alamance Regional Medical Center.
A native of Guilford County, he was the husband of the late Annie Smith James and Merita D. James, who survives, and the son of the late Amos Thornton James and the late Eliza Beshears James. He retired from Gilbarco, was a member and usher of Emmanuel Baptist Church, The Lions Club and the Gibsonville Rotary Club.
In addition to his wife of the home, Mutt is survived by one daughter, Joni Ann James of Graham; one son, Jimmy E. James of Greensboro; three grandsons, Brandon Long and his wife Natasha, Joshua E. James and his wife Holly and Christian G. James; and three great-grandchildren, Carson James, Ethan James and Josephine Long.
In addition to his first wife and parents, Mutt was preceded in death by one sister, Fleta Hart; and three brothers, David James, Paul James and William James.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 17, 2018. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:45 p.m. prior to the funeral service.
