Obituary

Johnny Mack Clayton, 86, of Burlington passed away at Brookdale Assisted Living on Thursday, January 14, 2021.

A native of Roxboro, NC, he was the husband of Gloria Puryear Clayton who survives and the son of the late Johnny Forrest Clayton and Lottie Mae Clayton.

Mr. Clayton worked as an electrical engineer for Western Electric in Burlington from 1956 to 1994.

He was a 1952 graduate of Bethal High School in Roxboro and a 1963 graduate of Elon University.  He was a member of St. Luke’s Methodist Church in Burlington for over 55 years.  Mack loved fishing with his son, UNC sports, the Cleveland Indians, watching westerns and spending time with his grandsons who he loved so much.

In addition to his loving wife, Gloria, Mack is survived by one son, Monty and his wife Cindy; two grandsons, Tyler Clayton and his fiancé Caroline Traczyk of Durham and Hunter Clayton of Burlington.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 20th, 2021 from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm at Rich & Thompson Funeral Home in Burlington.  A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm in the Rich & Thompson Chapel.
