Mr. John C. Allen, 95, of Snow Camp passed away at Chatham Hospital in Siler City on Monday, July 12, 2021.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of the late Hallie Ruth Allen and the late Caroleen Foust Allen and the son of Arthur Allen and Ethel Workman Allen, both deceased. He was a retired dairy farmer and then went on to be an accountant. Mr. Allen was a member of Cane Creek Friends Meeting, the Cane Creek Quaker Men, the SAR, Alamance County Genealogy Society, and the Alamance Senior Men’s Golf Association. He was a charter member of the Sylvan Ruritan from 1957 serving in many officer positions and awarded the Tom Downing Fellow Award for his work and dedication to the community. He helped start the Snow Camp Fire Department in 1959 and was a volunteer fireman for many years. Allen was a board member for Coble Dairy.
Survivors include two grandchildren, Caroline Worsham and husband James and Katie Allen; four great-grandchildren, William Hinshaw, Hallie Worsham, Mallory Jones, and Jaxon Hargrove; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Allen and John W. Allen; sisters, Blanche Allen Hinshaw, Irene Allen Clark, and Della Allen Isley and brother, Floyd Allen.
The funeral service will be conducted at Cane Creek Friends Meeting on Friday, July 16, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. by Dr. Cheryl Benson. Burial will follow in Meeting House Cemetery. Following the graveside service, the family will greet friends in the church fellowship hall.
