Joan Delaney DeMint

Joan Delaney DeMint, 64, of Burlington, went home to be with the Lord Friday December 14, 2018 at her home, surrounded by her family.

Joan was born in Queens, NY, and grew up in Staten Island, and was the daughter of the late James J. Delaney, Sr. and Gloria Newman Delaney. She settled in Burlington in the mid-1970’s were she met her husband, Paul E. DeMint, to whom she was married for 31 years.

Joan retired as an Administrative Assistant at UNC-Chapel Hill.

In addition to her husband, Paul, Joan is survived by her two sons, Michael Aprile and his wife, Sonia, of Staten Island, NY, and Richard Aprile and his wife, Amanda, of Mt. Pleasant, SC; six grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Brooke, Sarah, Jackson and Mason; four sisters, Maureen, Jane, Karen and Ann; three nieces and three nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, and best friend James “Jimmy” Delaney Jr.

Joan was an avid sports fan, rooting for the New York Giants, New York Yankees and Duke Blue Devils.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at Alamance Memorial Chapel on Wednesday December 19, 2018, at 9:30AM.
