In the early morning hours of November 8th a rare soul quietly took her leave. Jo Anne (Jody) Woodell Richmond was an amazing human. She grew relationships like she grew her plants, with tender loving care. Jody was open minded and open hearted with everyone. She cared deeply for her fellow man and the world was a better place because she was in it. She retired from Izod after 30 years of service. She loved a bargain and was a thrift store treasure hunter who took great joy in finding fantastic trinkets, pottery, and clothing for her family and friends. Her most coveted title though was Grema. She was at her best when she was loving on and being loved by her grandbabies. No words can describe the grief we feel as a family, but there are no words to describe this kind of love either.
Jody was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Vera Woodell. She leaves behind a husband, Steve Richmond; a sister, Sandy Woodell Allred (with husband Billy); 2 daughters, Angie Capps (with husband Mark) and Katherine (Kasey) Thompson; 5 grandchildren, Cody Thompson, Kayla Capps, Jackson Thompson, Carly Buck and Mason Richmond; stepson, Mark Richmond (with wife Catherine); nephew, Scott Allred (with wife Jennifer) and a much loved group of close friends.
Jody’s family will hold a visitation Sunday, November 11th at Rich and Thompson Funeral Service on Glenwood Ave in Burlington from 4:00 to 5:45, followed by a Memorial Remembrance in the chapel at 6:00.
