Mrs. Jewel Ray, 86, of Graham passed away at her residence on Monday, May 16, 2022.
A native of Haw River, she was the wife of the late Jerry Keith “Duke” Ray and the daughter of Homer Allen Lamb and Ethel Boggs Lamb, both deceased. She began her career by working at Kernodle Clinic, Duke, and Chapel Hill. Later, she was employed for many years and retired as Administrative Assistant at Honda Power Equipment. Jewel volunteered with the Hospice Store and Alamance County Meals on Wheels. She was a member of Phillips Chapel United Methodist Church and the Women’s Chamber of Commerce in Alamance County.
Survivors include a son, Mike Ray and wife Ginger of Graham; two grandchildren, Kristi Ray Hicks and husband John of Staley and Katie Ray of Graham; two sisters, Opal Wood and Pearl Smith; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by Ruby Lamb Phillips.
The funeral service will be conducted at Phillips Chapel United Methodist Church on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 12:00 noon by Rev. Mark Stephens with the family receiving friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Phillips Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
