Jennifer “Ginger” Hurst, 64, of Burlington passed away at her residence on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at 1:05 p.m. following a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer.
A native of Mercer County, WV, she was the wife of Donnie Hurst, who survives, and the daughter of James Lee Wyatt and Jeanne Marie St. Clair Wyatt, both deceased.
Mrs. Hurst was formerly employed as a supervisor with Lab Corp for 35 years. She was also a volunteer at the Charles Drew Center. Ginger was a talented painter and loved to knit. She was an avid fan of the Carolina Tarheels and Panthers. She made many friends while traveling throughout the United States with her husband Donnie for the Ham Radio club. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church. Ginger was known for her quick wit and silly puns. She always put others first and shared a special love for her grandson.
In addition to her husband of the home, survivors include two daughters, Suzanne Clayton and Kristi Owens and husband Michael, all of Burlington; a precious grandson, Evan Clayton; son-in-law, Tommy Clayton; sister, Sara Kathryn Wyatt of Tazwell, VA; brother, Lee Matthew Wyatt and wife Linda of Clover, SC; mother-in-law, Peggy Hurst; two brothers-in-law, Fred Hurst of Charleston, SC, and Jim Hurst of Elon; and her faithful dog, Max. She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Don Hurst.
The funeral service will be conducted at Faith United Methodist Church on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at 12:00 noon by Rev. Lee Edwards with the family receiving friends from 10:30 until 11:45 a.m. prior to the service. Entombment will follow at the Mausoleum at Alamance Memorial Park. Other times the family will be at the residence.
