Mrs Jane Elizabeth Elder Moore

Jane Elizabeth Elder Moore, 87, of Burlington passed away at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Sunday, August 7, 2022.

Born December 29, 1934 in Burlington, N.C., she was the wife of the late Grover W. Moore, Sr. and the daughter of James Perry “Buck” Elder, Sr. and Elizabeth Miller Elder, both deceased.

Jane graduated from Walter Williams High School in the second class to graduate from there. She was also a graduate of the Women’s College (now UNC-G) and taught school in Burlington. She was active in the PTA of several schools and tutored in several of the schools. Jane was past President of the Alamance County Service League, charter President of the Alamance County Mutual Concert Association, and a member of the Mentor Book Club. Her volunteer days at the Memory Care Daycare at Twin Lakes brought her great joy.

A devoted member of Macedonia Lutheran Church, she enjoyed teaching Sunday School, serving on numerous committees in WELCA, and serving on the Church Council and various church committees.

She loved the game of bridge and treasured time spent with friends around the bridge table over the many years. Jane was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and loyal friend who taught us grace and encouraged all of us to love one another.

Survivors include three children, Julia Elizabeth Bullock (Al), Grover Wm. Moore, Jr., and Susan Willis Uhlin (Bob); grandchildren, Grover David Moore (Kasey), Melanie Payton Moore, Robert James Uhlin, William Moore Uhlin; sister, Joan Elder Regal; brother, James Perry Elder, III; sister, Lora Elder Jones (Charles).

A memorial service will be conducted at Macedonia Lutheran Church on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends following the service in Luther Hall.
