James Paul Phillips, 73, of Burlington went home to a better place on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 following two years of declining health and two weeks critical illness.
A native of Indianapolis, Indiana, he was the son of William Phillips and Ruth Ellen Gerringer Phillips, both deceased. He was in construction for many years, and later was self employed in the roofing industry. He was an artist and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two sons, Jeremy Phillips and Jamey Phillips, both of Florida; two sisters, Cindy Lopez and husband Reyez and Julie Walker, all of Burlington; and three nieces, Anna Maria Lopez, Jessica Lopez, and Christy Gomez. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Dalton Phillips and Ricky Dean Scott.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Saturday, April 24, 2021 by Rev. Don Pegg with the family receiving friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Kimesville Road Baptist Church cemetery.
