James Norman Rackley, Jr.
James Norman Rackley, Jr., 91, of Broadway Drive, Graham and formerly of Joyce Court, Burlington passed away at AuthoraCare Collective Hospice Home on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 3:35 p.m.
A native of Anderson County, SC, he was the husband of the late Virginia Douglas Rackley and the son of James Norman Rackley, Sr. and Molly Gertrude Hayes Rackley, both deceased. He retired from Lowe’s and Alamance Cabinets and was a member of the Alamance-Caswell Homebuilders Association, earning his Green Coat during his tenure there. He was a former member of the Exchange Club and secretary for the N. C. District. Norman was also a member of Graham Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Jane Wall and husband Jerry and Norma Long and husband Warren, all of Graham; son, James Norman “Chip” Rackley, III and his fiance Debbie Montalvo-Blake of Palm Coast, FL; step-daughter, Mary McWhorter of Guntersville, AL; sister, Doris Jones of Burlington; sister-in-law, Kay Quakenbush Rackley of Burlington; five grandchildren, Kelly Wall (Rosemarie), Susan Sarvis (Brandon), Angie Hall (Jeff), Kim Long Cobb (Jay McPherson), and Jayce Rackley; 12 great-grandchildren, Nadia Wall, Luke Wall, Jordan Wall, Lee Sharpe, Kelly Hall, Alex Hall, Ashleigh Huey, Emma Huey, Skylar Southard, J. C. Cobb, Mason Cobb, and Kinley Cobb. He was preceded in death by his son, James Freeman “Jimmy” Rackley; two brothers, Bobby Rackley and Charles R. Rackley; and special friend, Beatrice Gregory Oakes.
A celebration of Norman’s life will be conducted at Graham Presbyterian Church on Friday, February 12, 2021 at 12:00 noon by Rev. Steve Braswell with the family receiving friends immediately following the service.
