Jimmy “Monk” Myrick, 71, of Graham, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2019 at Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington.
A native of Alamance County, Mr. Myrick was the son of the late N.C. “Tabby” Myrick and the late Mary-Dean Moon Myrick.
Mr. Myrick worked at the former Stadler's Country Ham and retired from Smithfield Foods as a Shipping and Receiving Manager after 33 years of service. As a child, Mr. Myrick was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church.
Mr. Myrick was known as an incredibly committed employee, but when he could find time he was an avid golfer and hand crafted wooden handle knives. He also loved to ride his motorcycle, follow Tar Heel athletics and NASCAR.
He is survived by his daughter, Jaymie Myrick Steele of Haw River; his son James Nolan Myrick, wife, Tammy, of Burlington; six grandchildren, Tate and Nylie Myrick, Abby and Mason Steele and Eden and Ivan Sibert; and one brother, Barry Myrick of Burlington.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 10, 2019 from noon until 1:30 pm at Rich and Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Graham.
A memorial service will follow at 1:30 in the Rich and Thompson Chapel.
When not at the funeral home, the family will receive friends at the residence of Nolan and Tammy Myrick, 4212 Aviemore Run, Burlington, NC 27215.
