James Douglas Mackintosh III, 75, of Burlington, died unexpectedly Sunday, January 19, 2020 at his home.
Born in Paris, Tennessee, Jim was the son of the late James Douglas Mackintosh, Jr., and the late Eleanor Watkins Mackintosh. He lived most of his life in Burlington.
Jim was a retired financial advisor and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Burlington.
He was a graduate of Williams High School, Class of 1963. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Clemson University, Class of 1970 and made a lifetime of memories while a member of Sigma Alpha Zeta fraternity.
Jim was a member of the Burlington Rotary Club and an avid golfer at Alamance Country Club, where he achieved a life goal of shooting his age at 67. He was a voracious reader and lifetime dog lover. Jim lived life to the fullest with an adventurous spirit. He also loved sharing his experiences through captivating storytelling.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Margaret Mackintosh Bullock and her husband, Ted, of Charleston, SC; his sons, James Douglas Mackintosh IV and his wife, Ashley, of Charleston, SC and Robert McNab Mackintosh of Burlington; a granddaughter, Mary Louise Mackintosh; two sisters, Linda Mackintosh Parks and her husband, Michael, of Elon, Charlotte Mackintosh Edens of Semora, NC and a brother, Michie Stuart Mackintosh of Richmond, VA.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at 2:00 PM at The First Presbyterian Church of Burlington. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Ronald L. Shive. There will be a reception at the church immediately following the ceremony.
