On Monday, February 18, 2019 at 12:25 p.m. James “Homer” Keck, Sr., 91 years of age was ushered into the presence of Jesus Christ, the Savior he loved.
He was the son of the late James Edgar “Red” Keck and Ella Mae Zachary Keck. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 69 years, Shirley Euliss Keck. He is survived by two sons, James H. “Jim” Keck, Jr. and wife Linda of Snow Camp and Timothy H. “Tim” Keck and wife Jean of Burlington; one daughter, Angela Keck Durham and husband Doug of Graham; five grandchildren, Wendy Keck Kroeze and husband Dwayne of Louisburg, Timothy Page Keck and wife Emily of Mebane, William Brent Hodgin of Chicago, Illinois, Ashley Hodgin Mann and husband Matt of Graham and Taylor McKayla Davis of Charlotte; two step grandchildren, Stephen Douglas Durham and wife Lori of Gibsonville and Jonathan Rebert Durham and wife Amelia of Burlington; ten great-grandchildren; ten nieces; and nine nephews.
He is survived by one sister, Glenda Keck Clamplett of Columbia, SC and was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Jones and Ruth Lee Currie and one brother, Bobby Darrell Keck, Sr.
He was retired with 36 years of service from Lorillard Tobacco Company, Inc. in Greensboro. He was a World War II veteran serving in the U. S. Navy.
Mr. Keck was an avid sports fan who loved to watch his Braves Baseball, Duke Blue Devils, and the Carolina Panthers. His favorite hobby of all was rabbit hunting with his beloved beagle dogs and the many friends he hunted with over his lifetime. Mr. Keck was a man who was loved by many and who never had a critical word to say about anybody.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow at Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery.
