James Clarkson Braxton

James Clarkson Braxton, 86, of Snow Camp passed away at Beacon Place (AuthoraCare Hospice) in Greensboro on Thursday, September 14, 2023.

A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of the late Peggy Holt Braxton and the son of Perlemon Braxton and Mattie Mae Coble Braxton, both deceased. He was a former member of the National Guard and a carpenter. James had a gentle and kind soul and was a very hard-working man. He was well thought of in the community.

Survivors include a daughter, Sherry Overman  (Ricky); son, Ray Shoe; grandchildren, Jeremy Stuart, Braxton Taylor, and Misty Bowles; great grandchild, Maddux Bowles; and brothers, Earl Braxton and wife Patty of Orlando, FL and David Braxton and wife Nancy of Liberty, NC.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Dan Braxton and Wade Braxton.

The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Burlington on Saturday, September 16, 2023 from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m.

The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. by Pastor Tommy Marley. Burial will follow at Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery.
