James Delmer Burgess

     James Delmer Burgess, 82, of Mebane,  passed away on Saturday 11/27/2021, at his residence.  A native of Alamance County,  he was the husband of the late Cheyra Patton Burgess, who passed away just a month prior to his passing. He was the son of James Battle Burgess and Nannie Payne Burgess,  both deceased.  Delmer retired from the N.C. Department of Transportation as a diesel mechanic.

     He is survived by a daughter, Susan Burgess, of Mebane;  his son, Ronnie Burgess and his wife, Michelle, of Mebane;  3 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.  In addition to his wife and parents,  he was preceded in death by  a sister, Elsie Young.

     A graveside service will be held on Tuesday 11/30/2021 at 2:30 p.m. at Hawfields Presbyterian Church Cemetery.  Rev. David Ealy will officiate.  The family will be at the residence of the son,  Ronnie Burgess, 2614 Turner Rd., Mebane, NC.
