Alease Thompson Smith

Alease Thompson Smith, 101 years of age, of Burlington passed away at her residence on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 7:12 p.m.

A native of Alamance County, she was proudly married to the late Curtis D. Smith for 67 years. She was the daughter of Arthur Thompson and Maggie Bell Coble Thompson, both deceased. Alease was a charter and the oldest member of Staley Memorial Baptist Church where she was also a member of the Ladies’ Fellowship.

Survivors include a daughter, Connie Sue Smith, of Burlington and fiancé, Frederick J. Sternberg, of Graham; son, Larry Curtis Smith and wife, Teena of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchild, Lee Anthony Smith (Son of Sarah) and his wife Cheryl and their children, Emma and Madeline and grandchild, Hayden Taylor Smith. Alease was the last survivor of 11 children, her ten brothers and sisters all preceded her in death.

A memorial service for the immediate family will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 by Rev. Bennie Smith.
