Rev. Hobert Alvis Isley, 88, of Cramerton, NC, formerly of Gibsonville, passed to his Heavenly Home, Tuesday, July 10, 2018.
Rev. Isley was a native of Gibsonville and the husband of the late Hazel Mae Pike Isley and the son of the late Everette Joel Isley, Sr. and Lessie Elizabeth Foster Isley.
Rev. Isley is a graduate of John Wesley Bible College in High Point and is a retired Evangelical Methodist Church and Wesleyan Church minister. Rev. Isley served churches in Denver, NC, Asheville, NC, his hometown of Gibsonville, High Point, Dallas, NC and Clover, SC. He is also a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean Conflict.
Rev. Isley is survived by two daughters, Janice Frye and her husband, Gene, of Gastonia, Susan Simpson and her husband, Al, of Elgin, OR; three grandchildren, Shelley Collins and her husband, Brad, Jacob Frye and his wife, Catherine, Gus Simpson and his wife, Atalie; six great-grandchildren, Maggie Collins, Sam Collins, Benjamin Frye, Hunter Frye, Annabelle Frye, Judah Simpson, a sister, Gail Thomas, of Gibsonville and a sister-in-law, Rachel Isley, of Liberty.
In addition to his wife and parents, Rev. Isley was preceded in death by three sisters, Dorothy Cuthbertson, Ruth Hughes and Opal Isley; and three brothers, Jack Isley, Bill Isley and Horace Isley.
The family will receive friends Saturday, July 14, 2018 from Noon until 1:45 pm at Rich and Thompson Funeral Service in Burlington.
The funeral service, officiated by his nephews, Rev. Tim Isley and Joel Isley, will follow at 2:00 pm in the Rich and Thompson Chapel. Burial with military honors will be in Gibsonville City Cemetery.
