Mrs. Hilda Willine Overman Long

Hilda Willine Overman Long, 92, formerly of Graham, died on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Angels Senior Living at Palma Ceia in Tampa, Florida. 

Hilda was born on December 6th 1925 to Huey W. Overman and Sally Durham Overman (both deceased) in Swepsonville, North Carolina. Hilda married Henry Wade Long (now deceased) on March 17th, 1951. Henry was in the Air Force and they traveled extensively living in West Palm Beach, Alexandria, VA, San Antonio, TX, Denver, CO, Anchorage, Al, Dover, DE, Charleston, SC and Charlotte, NC. They came back to Graham and settled in 1972.

Hilda and Henry had one son Lyndon David Long who married Paula Kuntz in 1992. Lyndon passed away unexpectedly in July 2003. Hilda relocated to Florida in June 2010.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Hazel Overman Scott, Margaret Jane Overman Riley, Mary Lee Overman Foust and Virginia Nora Overman; and her brother, Roscoe Bryant Overman.

Hilda was a Customer Service Representative with the Internal Revenue Service in Greensboro until she retired in 1990. She enjoyed working with people and assisting with Tax Returns. She was very outgoing, pleasant and determined. She had a smile that was contagious and was a beautiful person inside and out.

A funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, March 20th at 11:00am at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Graham, NC. The Rev. Christi Dye of Swepsonville United Methodist Church will be officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be immediately following the ceremony at Historic Providence Church Cemetery, Graham, NC. She will be laid to rest next to her loving husband and son.
