Hilda McVey Holt

Mrs. Hilda McVey Holt, 93, of Graham passed away at the Presbyterian Home of Hawfields on Saturday, February 16, 2019.

A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Arthur James Holt and the daughter of Clarence A. McVey, Sr. and Mabel Thompson McVey, both deceased. Mrs. Holt retired from the Alamance County Tax Department, Mapping Office. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son, Craig Holt and wife Teresa of Snow Camp; two daughters, Julia Holt Fisher and husband Eddie of Burlington and Lea Holt of the home; six grandchildren, Melissa Clarke, Chad Collins, Meleasha Holt Woods, Lucas Fisher, Heather Holt and Jessica Graves Mahar; eight great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Mafalda McVey. She was preceded in death by a brother, C.A. “ Pete” McVey, Jr. and two sisters, Marie Andrews and husband Walter and Betsy Ivey and husband E.L. “Buddy” Ivey, Jr.

The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. David Jackson with the family receiving friends from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery.
