Henry Howard Ursery, 75, of Snow Camp died peacefully on Monday, October 11 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. He was the loving husband of Brenda Tingen Ursery and the son of Malcolm (Dub) and Caroleen Petty Ursery both deceased.
He was a member of the 1965 Southern High School State Championship baseball team and also a 1965 graduate of Southern High School in Graham, NC. With his love of sports he coached many teams at Saxapahaw, Belmont, and Mt Hermon. He loved hunting, fishing, being outside on his lawn mower and tractor and enjoying time with family and friends.
Howard was loved by all and never met a stranger. When Howard started dating the love of his life, best friend and soulmate, Brenda Tingen. He knew she was the one with just one question…..Do you love sports? Just 20 days from the first date, he proposed (after clarifying her love of sports) and they were engaged with the promise of getting married when he returned from Vietnam.
Howard served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War with the 1st Infantry Division, Big Red One, Rangers, Charlie Company. He retired from the City of Burlington.
In addition to his wife of the home, he is survived by his sons, Robb Ursery (Christie) and Scott Ursery (Deanne); two grandsons, Blake Ursery (Lauryn) and Luke Ursery; two granddaughters, Jennifer Staples (Sid) and Brianna Spear (James); great grandchildren, Tristan, Emma, Syrea and Sadie; Sister, Wanda Faye Holt (Mike), Sandi Scott (Marshall); brother, Mike Ursery; sister-in-law, Sue Cox. Preceded in death by brothers, Ted and Donnell Ursery; sisters, Opal Hanks and Ruth Perkins.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 14th, 2021 from 11:15am - 12:45pm at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home, 207 E Elm St, Graham and the celebration service will follow in the Chapel at 1:00pm. The burial will be at Mt Hermon United Methodist Church 4178 Mt Hermon Rock Creek Rd, Graham.
