Gregg Winn Sullivan

Alice Gregg Winn Pappendick Sullivan was gifted to this world on November 13, 1934. She grew up in Troy, NC with her parents C.B. and Nita Winn and her brother Charlie Winn. She was lucky enough to be able to marry two wonderful men – George D. Pappendick, who precedes her in death, and John G. Sullivan. Her children include George D. Pappendick, Jr. “Dusty” (Jewell Absher), Mary J Wilkerson “MJ” (Rick Wilkerson), John Paul Pappendick (Donna Holcomb), and Heather Sullivan (Joel Winkelman).

She attended Wake Forest College, graduated from Elon College with a degree in Philosophy, and was accepted to Harvard University. Many people have been touched by Gregg through her work with youth groups, working at the Wesley Center at UNC Chapel Hill and co-teaching leadership classes with Dr. Sullivan at Elon. She loved nothing better than to work in her yard, watch football, read, and engage in all kinds of conversations with people. Her spirit enriched everyone who met her. She died on February 20, 2024 after a life well-lived.

There will be a celebration of her spirit at 1:30 p.m. in the Sacred Space located in the Numen Lumen Center at Elon University on Saturday, March 23. It will be a casual sharing of memories, stories, and celebrations of a remarkable woman.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Salvation Army for the food pantry or the Boys and Girls Club (812 N. Anthony Street, Burlington, NC 27217) or to the Elon Academy (2108 Campus Box, Elon, NC 27244)
