Obituary

Early Monday morning, May 16, 2022, Grace Marie Oakes Ingle, age 82, of Burlington, North Carolina, peacefully went into the arms of her precious Savior Jesus Christ, Lord of her life. She was surrounded in love by all of her family as she entered into her final home. Grace was born on September 18, 1939, to her loving parents Curtis White and Etta McCrickard Oakes (both deceased). She was the wife of 67 years to James Ralph Ingle, Jr. who survives. In addition to her husband of their home, survivors include her children, Curtis (Gloria Gay) Ingle, Robert (Donna) Ingle, of Burlington, LouAnne (Jimmy) Loschin, Charlene (Greg) Williams of Graham and Joe Atkins of Arizona; grandchildren, Phillip (Stefanie) Ingle, Courtney (Jacob) Wrenn, Marshall Ingle, Peyton Justice, Suzy Williams, Joey Atkins and Ashley Atkins; great-grandchildren, Matthew Swaney, Andrew Swaney, Brendon Swaney, Abigail Ingle, Samantha Ingle, Lawson Ingle, Lee Ingle, and Scarlet Ingle; sister, Mary Lou McLean of Graham; brother, David Oakes of Lincolnton; and sister-in-law, Patricia Oakes of Burlington.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Glenn Oakes; brother-in-law, Herman McLean; sister-in-law, Jo Ann Oakes; and her mother and father-in-law, Ralph and Annie Ingle.

Grace accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age. She grew up in Glen Hope Baptist Church learning God’s word which prepared her for years of service to the Lord. She was currently a member of DaySpring Baptist Church. She was always active in church and ministry outreach. Grace was very talented in so many areas. She always joined in wherever she was needed, doing any task that was asked of her, bringing people into her home, ministering to the sick or lonely, working in her church, and taking care of her large family. She could cook, sew, build, design, organize, entertain, and lead large events. Grace retired from Hospice of Alamance. She will always be remembered for her devotion to the Hospice Flea Market and Balloon Fest. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Grace leaves a rich legacy of faith in Christ, family first and true friendship.
