Gordon M. Dix

Mr. Gordon M. Dix, 87, of Graham passed away at the Hospice Home on Wednesday, April 25, 2018.

A native of Caswell, Co., Gordon was the husband of Jeanine Ware Dix and the son of Hurley Dix and Lottie Weadon Dix, both deceased. He retired from the United States Air Force as Chief Master Sergeant with 31 years of service, serving during the Vietnam War.  During his honorable service, he received the Bronze Star and the Meritorious Service Medal. He was a member of Riverside Baptist Church and through other church leadership roles in previous churches, he was the Chairman of Deacons and served as Sunday School Director.  Mr. Dix had a love for and enjoyed growing his tomatoes.

Mr. Dix is survived by his wife, Jeanine of the home; son, Jeff Dix of Morrisville, NC; two grandchildren, Brianne McDonald and husband Dan of Omaha, NE and Justin Dix of Bellevue, NE; two great grandchildren, Aaron Barry McDonald and Conor Michael McDonald; sister, Nancy Davis and husband, Frankie of Danville, VA; brother, William Dix of Providence, NC.; daughter-in-law, Liz Dix of Lavista, NE; and step-granddaughter, Angela Newmaster of Kansas City, MO.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Barry Dix; five sisters, Shirley Tuck, Margaret Crumpton, Betty Watkins, Virginia Poteat and Catherine Wood; and two brothers, Elwood Dix and Thomas Dix.

The funeral service will be conducted at the Riverside Baptist Church on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Bob Stephenson.  Burial and full military honors will follow at Graham Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Other times they will be at the residence.
