Obituary


Glenda Sykes Phillips, 87, of Haw River passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, January 1, 2022.

A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Ottis Melton Phillips and the daughter of the late John Benjamin Sykes. Jr. and the late Mildred Alvis Sykes. She owned and operated Willow Lane Mobile Home Park and was of the Baptist faith.

Glenda is survived by sons; Barry Phillips, Terry Phillips, Blane Phillips and Neal Phillips (Lisa); sister, Kay Lankford (Johnny); brothers John Richard Sykes (Glenda) and Robert “Frankie” Sykes (Brenda); six grandchildren; one great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Walter “Buddy” Sykes.

Her funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 9, 2022 the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service. The committal service will be held immediately following the funeral service at Haw River Cemetery.

The family would like to respectfully ask that masks be worn and social distancing be observed for those attending.
