Mother, Grandmother, Sister and dear friend, Glenda Parrish Moore, 82, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2017 at her home.
Glenda was born in Coats, NC to Reggie Erwin Parrish and Lucille Johnson Parrish on June 11, 1935. She married Bob Moore of Graham, NC in 1956 and made Graham her permanent home in 1969.
Glenda became a licensed real estate broker in 1974 and has been a licensed insurance broker since 1982. She started her career as an insurance broker with Jefferson Standard, which later merged to become Jefferson Pilot and ultimately, Lincoln Financial.
Glenda’s leadership skills over the years led her to serve as President of the Burlington Association of Life Underwriters and Area Vice President of North Carolina State Life Underwriters. At the age of 50, when she started her career in insurance, she received the Fast Start Award from Jefferson Standard. Later, Glenda was honored as Underwriter of the Year and the NCALU recipient of the Association Achievement Award in recognition of superior leadership by a local association president. Glenda was devoted to her clients and developed many strong friendships with both her real estate and insurance clients that span nearly 5 decades. She continued her work in both insurance and real estate property management until she became ill in July.
Glenda was a member of First Baptist Church of Graham, where she served the Lord and her church as a member on several teams and added her voice to the Season Singers Choir. Ever practical and sharp witted, Glenda loved her children. She often said, “I could not give you much when you were growing up, so I tried to give you things that would last.” Playing the piano was one of her favorite pastimes. She gave her children love, straight teeth, and music.
She is survived by her children, Cindy Moore Eden and husband, Jim of Fort Lauderdale, FL; Kelly Foreman Herrera, and husband Arturo of Georgetown, TX ; Reggie Moore, and wife Teri of Whitsett, NC; grandchildren, Crystal Foreman of Raleigh, NC, Beverly Hanson of Georgetown, TX, Sarah Foreman of New Orleans, LA, Christian Moore of Atlanta, GA and step-grandson, Matthew Rickard of Wilmington, NC; great granddaughter, Evelyn Pearl; sister, Lou and spouse, DE Warren of Wilmington, NC; niece, Amy Warren Kimbro of Raleigh; nephew, Parrish Warren of Wilmington; and aunt, Belva Johnson Cherry of Fayetteville.
Visitation will be at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Friday, September 8th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The funeral service will be at the First Baptist Church of Graham on Saturday, September 9th at 3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to First Baptist Church of Graham or to Hospice of Alamance County.
