Frances Roberson Marlette, 88, of the Eli Whitney community, passed away on April 22, 2021, at UNC Medical Center. She was born February 3, 1933, to Robert Eugene Roberson and Emma Holt Roberson, both deceased. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Gordon Hackney Marlette, and is survived by her son Ernest Marlette and wife Marnie; her daughter Angelyn Hall and her husband Milton; her daughter Gina Karpathakis and husband George; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by sister Billie Jean Andrews and is survived by sisters Jo Foust and Bobbie Lou Hargrove (Marion).
She dedicated her life to education, beginning with Alamance County Schools and went on to become one of the first females to receive her Doctorate of Education at UNC Chapel Hill. She later was a professor at Elon College and was a director of continuing education at Alamance Community College.
She was a lifelong member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Snow Camp where a graveside service will be held Sunday, April 25, at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Joseph Parks officiating. Please follow Covid guidelines while attending the service.
