Mrs. Jelene Bailey Blanchard

Mrs. Jelene Bailey Blanchard, 82, of Graham, died on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at her residence.

A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of Tommy Blanchard, who survives, and the daughter of DeWitt Bailey and Bessie Herron, both deceased. She retired from Western Electric after thirty years of service and after retirement was a teacher’s aide at Alamance Christian School. Mrs. Blanchard was a member of Beacon Baptist Church and taught Sunday School at the church. She loved quilting, sewing, and reading in her spare time.

In addition to her husband of 43 years, she is survived by two children, Traci Bowes and husband James of Burlington and Bryan Blanchard and wife Kelly of Elon; two grandchildren, Hannah and Alexis Blanchard; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Bill Bailey and wife Robin and Jerry Bailey and wife Elaine; sister, Brenda Felter and husband Fred; many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Suzie Q.

She was preceded in death by her son, Keith Woody.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 7, 2018 at Cedar Cliff United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pastor Michael Karns will be officiating. At other times, the family will be at the residence.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Jeanette Nicholson for the special care given to Mrs. Blanchard.
