Marie Knight Moon

Marie Knight Moon, 92, of Graham passed away at AuthoraCare Hospice Home on Sunday, May 28, 2023.

A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Eugene C. Moon and the daughter of G. Tyrus Knight and Elvita Goss Knight, both deceased. Marie attended Elon College. She retired from Stearns Ford and worked for several other automobile dealers over the years, including Alamance Motors, Lilien-Hines Olds-Cadillac, Mitchell Oldsmobile Cadillac, and Atwater Ford.

Marie was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Graham where she shared her beautiful alto voice with the Chancel Choir, her wallpaper and home improvement skills with the Adult Workteam, and her bookkeeping skills as a former treasurer and member of the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Educational Foundation/Ram’s Club and enjoyed attending football and basketball games and the fellowship of family and friends gathering around Floney’s Van (Go Heels!!). Marie and Gene enjoyed dancing outings with the Shoe and Slipper Club in their younger days and even in their senior years were known to breakout the jitterbug anytime the opportunity arose.

Survivors include a son, Michael E. Moon of Burlington and daughter, Mona M. Moon of Raleigh, and grand-dog Bentley. Marie served as the second mother to many friends and co-conspirators of Mike and Mona and made sure everyone was fed whether at a cookout, a tailgate, or the Sunday dinner table. She was also the honorary grandmother to countless children of extended family, friends, and co-workers and often remembered each with a small token of her love.

The funeral service will be conducted at the First United Methodist Church of Graham on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Claire Clyburn with the family receiving friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Linwood Cemetery.
