Elmer Keith Hensley

Mr. Elmer Keith “Pete” Hensley, 88, of Burlington died at Edgewood Place on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 10:50 a.m.

A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of the late Margie Ashley Hensley and the son of Edward A. Hensley and Pattie Cora Fitch Hensley, both deceased. Mr. Hensley was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving in the 424th Field Artillery Battalion. He was a graduate of Elon University and retired from Associated Transport and Wicker Services. Pete was also an avid Duke fan. He was a member of Front Street United Methodist Church and the Men’s Bible Breakfast.

Survivors include a daughter, Ann Hensley Day of Goldsboro; two sons, David Ashley Hensley of Burlington and Rev. Darren Keith Hensley and wife Robin of Tucker, Georgia; and two grandchildren, Rebekah Garland Hensley and Benjamin Keith Hensley. He was preceded in death by a sister, Beulah Sullivan.

The funeral service will be conducted at Front Street United Methodist Church on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends in the Heritage Room of the church from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. Other times the family will be at the residence.
