Elliott Antonio Armstrong

Elliott Antonio Armstrong, 49, of Burlington, died Thursday, July 4, 2019 at Duke University Medical  Center.

A native of Asheboro, Mr. Armstrong was the husband of Catherine Dickinson Armstrong and the son of the late John Armstrong and the late Mary Faye Hines Armstrong.

Mr. Armstrong is a 1994 graduate of Elon University. He was inducted in the Elon Sports Hall of Fame in 2011. He lettered in football from 1990-93, earning three all-league honors and one team MVP accolade. He was also a three-time letter-winner in track. While at Elon he was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.

Mr. Armstrong was a member of the National Guard and served in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Mr. Armstrong was Director of Sales and Marketing and a social worker with Durham Nursing and Rehabilitation.

In addition to his wife, Catherine, Mr. Armstrong is survived by two daughters, Victoria Lynn Armstrong of the home and Brianna Dowless, of High Point; three sisters, Wanda (Hardy) Hardy, Sharon (Thomas) Ross and Annette (Eddie) Spinks, all of Asheboro.

Mr. Armstrong was preceded in death by his brother, Ernest Hines.

The family will receive friends Thursday, July 11, 2019, from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at Rich and Thompson Funeral Service in Burlington. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Rich and Thompson Chapel.
