Ella Mae Hayworth

Ella Gibson Hayworth, 90, of Colfax, NC passed away peacefully on March 17, 2019 at Hospice Home of the Piedmont after a brief illness. Ella was born and raised in Randolph County and later lived in High Point. After marrying Hubert (Bud), she raised a family in Burlington and was an accounting clerk for Sears for over 30 years. She was a long-time member of Grace Bible Fellowship. She loved gardening, bus tours with her brothers and sisters and was a great southern cook and pie maker. After retiring, she moved to River Landing in Colfax and enjoyed many new friendships and activities. She particularly enjoyed playing Bridge with her girlfriends and Scrabble with her family. She won far more often than she lost. Ella loved her large family and was a friend to all. Ella was strong in her Christian faith and is now rejoicing in the presence of Jesus.

Ella was preceded in death by her parents John and Victoria Gibson, her husband of almost 63 years, Hubert (Bud) Hayworth, Jr., brothers Howard Gibson and Don Gibson, sisters Rachel Gibson, Avis Gibson and Mary Rowan and granddaughter Sylvia Hayworth. She was survived by sons Hubert Hayworth III (Sandra) of Ft. Lupton , CO and Tim Hayworth (Ginger) of Greensboro, NC, brothers Steve Gibson of Greensboro, NC, James Roger Gibson (Ruth) of Hickory, NC, sister Lucy Varker of Chesapeake, VA and grandchildren Forrest Hayworth of Ft. Lupton, CO, Katelyn Patterson and her husband Andrew of Champaign, IL, and Jacob Hayworth of Greensboro, NC.

The family wishes to thank the administrators and staff of River Landing for their care of Ella over the last 6 years, the doctors and nurses at Moses Cone Hospital and Hospice of the Piedmont for their care in her final days. A private burial service is planned at Alamance Memorial Park. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service in the River Landing multipurpose room on Saturday, March 23 at 2 p.m. followed by a time of visitation.
