Mrs. Eleanor Ward Stewart, of Burlington, passed away at the Hospice Home on Monday, October 15, 2018 at 7:20 a.m.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Erwin Eugene Stewart and the daughter of William Avery Ward and Annie Vaughn Ward, both deceased. Mrs. Stewart was a graduate of Pleasant Grove High School and retired from Kayser Roth after 40 years of service.
Survivors include two sons, Steven E. Stewart of Carrboro and Timothy D. Stewart and wife Bonnie W. Stewart of Matthews; grandson, Joseph W. Stewart; sister, Ann Underwood and husband Harry; brother, Dace Ward; three sisters-in-law, Irene Ward, Jean Ward and Barbara Ward; and family friend, Jack Warren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Laura Gurganious; three brothers, Bill Ward, Glenn Ward and Earl Ward; and longtime companion, R. D. “Rez” Kenyon.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. by her son, Steven E. Stewart with the family receiving friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. The committal service will follow in Alamance Memorial Park, Pastor Bennie Smith, officiating.
